Safety is our top priority, which is why we have extended our ongoing campaign, launched in 2015, to recall up to 500,000 unmodified tumble dryers which in some rare cases may pose a risk of fire.
Our commitment to our customers’ safety is the reason why in 2015 we voluntarily approached the UK regulator shortly after purchasing Indesit and became aware of a potential concern relating to two types of tumble dryers manufactured by Indesit between April 2004 and September 2015.
The potential concern related to models it was selling under the Indesit, Hotpoint, Creda, Swan and Proline brand names, and meant that fluff could build up around the seal at the back of the appliance, increasing the risk of fire in rare cases.
We have sent thousands of engineers to homes across the UK and resolved the issue in 1.7 million dryers across the UK.
But we believe there could still be up to 500,000 machines on the market.
That’s why we are doing another big call-out to ensure that customers who own a tumble dryer that has yet to be looked at by an engineer or replaced reports it to us as soon as possible.
